One of the benefits of a hand held mixer over a blender or stand mixer is the size and time saving factor.  You can just plug it in and start mixing your eggs, flour, and oil and cake mix in a bowl in seconds. Now looking at the retail price you may want to consider another model if all you need is a simple blender.  But if you shop smarter and buy online then you can get the best mixer at a price you can afford.

What I would do is check out the sales on eBay for all the name brand hand held mixers. You are sure to find one at a low price. I was just checking out the prices a few minutes ago and they were running around $70 and that included free shipping and handling.
